Summer Offering

Preaching has always been at the center of God’s plan. Romans 10:14–15 echoes this: “How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? And how will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, ‘HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO PROCLAIM GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!’”

Because preaching is central to God’s work in the world, redemptive history is replete with preachers—men who faithfully proclaimed the message of God. In the Pentateuch, we see Enoch, who preached a message of coming judgment against the ungodliness of his day. We see Noah, the famous preacher of repentance to those who mocked God, and Moses, who preached the message of God’s deliverance and provision for His people and of obedience to the Law. The Prophets, in turn, show us—one after another—preachers of judgment, deliverance, and of a coming salvation. Finally, in the New Testament, we find John the Baptist preaching a message of repentance and preparing the way for the Lamb of God who would take away the sins of the world; our Lord Jesus Himself preaching of the coming kingdom of God; and Paul and the apostles preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, even in the face of death and fierce opposition.

Preaching is how God’s message has always gone forth—through the bold proclamation of His truth by faithful men—and prioritizing this has been a defining mark of the ministry of Grace Community Church since the beginning. As we have sought to preach the whole counsel of God, concerning ourselves with the depth of our ministry, God has taken care of the breadth. In His kindness, the preaching of God’s Word has been met with receptive hearts and resulted in changed lives—not just in our church but in the lives of many around the world.

Much of this gospel work has been affected through technological resources God has gifted to us. Since the launch of our cassette tape ministry in the 1970s to the opening of the Grace To You vault in 2008 through today, God has worked through the means of technology to bring the gospel to many. As the elders have always sought to invest our resources toward that which is most important—the proclamation of truth and the ministry of the gospel—we have decided that this summer is a strategic time to pour into the systems that lie at the very core of what amplifies the message we preach: the audio-visual technology in our Worship Center.

While so many invest in this kind of technology to simply enhance production value, our desire is to maintain a standard of excellence in our worship services, along with the global impact of our ministry. Our existing audio-visual equipment is entering its final phase of usefulness and by enhancing these important systems, we can help support the ministry responsible for amplifying the message of the gospel in order to maintain both the local and global ministry of our church.

Please prayerfully consider what you might contribute to this important ministry that so directly serves and supports the preaching of the God’s Word to many, both on Sundays to our church family and to others around the world.

Love in the Truth,

John and Patricia
